  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I am a transformation analyst working on the hiring and onboarding programme. It involves me collecting one pagers from each of the work streams within the programme and compiling them on to one power point presentation, taking the key messages and the RAG status' from each work stream and putting them on to a programme one pager which gets circled out to everyone on the programme.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have developed upon my power point skills from being in college through plural sight videos and learning on the job. I have also developed my excel skills by watching videos and learning different formulae and shortcuts through practice in the workplace. I have worked on my social skills as well through the multiverse community and by presenting in some team meetings.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I do enjoy the programme, learning about how to develop new skills, especially involving datasets as that what the programme focuses on the most. I enjoy making friends with some of the other apprentices on the course and understanding what they do as part of their job role and to see if we can all learn from one another.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I believe the programme is really well organised. Constant modules each month teaching the apprentices how to complete different things in a data set and how to climb up a company ladder. Then monthly Coaching Sessions which are one on one with the talent coach to help us through the last month and with any problems we might have with our assignments.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive lots of support from my team in Barclays. My line manager and my colleagues are always asking whether I need to put any work on to them so that I have more time to focus on my apprenticeship work. I am allowed my 20% to focus on my apprenticeship if I need it and the work becomes a bit too much to handle at the same time.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I receive constant support from my training provider both in the multiverse side and in the Barclays side. Both provide monthly meetings to see if any of us need support with any of the apprenticeship and as well there are the one to one sessions that are available whenever as long as we ask and we have our talent coaches number should anything be wrong that we need assistance with.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • My qualification helps with my performance a lot as in each of the modules we go through how to format data in excel which is something like what I do in my role alongside my governance role which is supported through the modules as well when we talk about character building and how to improve our presenting skills.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are plenty of sports teams that are hosted at work and there are many ways to be invited to the groups by simply asking colleagues. There is also an on site gym that is free at the moment. There are a lot of social events that get hosted as well by the company which tend to be free with food and drinks which is nice.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Barclays to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • Barclays is a friendly environment with nice people who are very supportive - lend a helping hand when struggling with a task or even if there's something personal going on they will try to assist. The events are awesome with a lot of attendance and good music. The buildings are nice and modern with constant upgrades being made.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Barclays?
  • I would tell them to just be honest when going through the assessment process and to be friendly, bubbly and with a nice persona when having the interviews. Make sure when building your CV you can back up your info with evidence as that will be important to getting you through the screening process the fastest.
