  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • As a senior marketing executive for a small company, I oversee all marketing activities. I supervise the junior marketing executive and manage content across email, website, social media, paid search and other channels. I plan, produce, and review campaigns and work with the sales team to constantly improve advertising to new and existing customers.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • As I worked in the industry for a couple of years prior to starting the degree apprenticeship, I already had a baseline understanding of everything covered so far in the programme. However, I have developed these skills greatly by learning the fundamentals of different types of marketing which helps to understand why certain activities are used and how to make these stronger.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy this programme hugely. The amount of in-person learning is ideal for me as this is the best way for me to learn. We also have weekly IQA sessions with the unit leader while working towards the assignment deadline to answer questions and clarify any areas which need more explanation.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme is very well structured and organised. The timetable was released in advance and the modules all follow generally the same structure which helps to plan learning around day-to-day work. The review meetings with my skills coach are efficient and regular and are always planned with the requirements of all parties considered.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • My employer has agreed to allow me to work through university work for a full day every week. This allows me time to contribute to my required off-the-job hours without having distractions of my day-to-day work. I can always ask questions of my colleagues when I need support to understand a concept and they are open to implementing new ideas to improve marketing materials.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • Manchester Metropolitan University provides a significant amount of support towards my qualifications. During weeks when there is no on-campus learning, the unit leader runs online IQA sessions allowing students to discuss progress to the completion of the current assignment and ask questions for topics that need more explanation.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • Although I have only been on this programme for six months, I have already applied a lot of what I have learned into my day-to-day role. I recently learned about Google Analytics 4 and I have successfully migrated my employer's analytics to the new platform. All assignments are relevant to my company and therefore can be applied directly to my role.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are not any formal extra-curricular activities run by my workplace as it is a company of only around 25 employees, However, there is a strong sense of community between employees and social activities such as meals, drinks or games are often organised on a casual basis between staff menbers.

  • 9a. Would you recommend UK IT Networks to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • There is a strong passion for personal development within UK IT Networks. Employees are encouraged to develop their own skills across a range of topics relevant to their roles. There is a strong sense of community within the company and all employees are welcoming and willing to support each other.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to UK IT Networks?
  • Be open to wanting to learn new things. As a smaller business, the roles across the organisation are less specialised than a similar company with a larger workforce, and therefore the role applied for will be more varied and will require more learning across the bredth of the industry, but will be more rewarding,
