  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • In my role, as business support, I take part in lots of activities from formatting reports to attending careers events. In my role there is a lot of planning and administration however my day to day role can change everyday. I communicate with external and internal stakeholders through meetings and emails.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Working in a team- in my role I have developed my teamworking skills. Interpersonal communication and communication skills– I have been communicating with more external stakeholders, so my communication skills have been improving. Time management/organisational skills – I have found my time management has hugely improved and I have more control over where my time is spent.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I have found that I have enjoyed my apprenticeship more and more over time. I am enjoying it more than I expected and its very different to what I originally thought. I find it has increased my personal skills which I need in my career and everyday life. It has increased my confidence too.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The different sections/areas of my course are split over time to ensure we are learning and completing coursework to a high standard. College are very helpful with learning. My work place really encourage me to learn more and they support me with all my coursework and find help for me whenever I need it.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • My employer is very supportive. I find they are very supportive with my college work and let me find the time to complete assignments. They also help me with any questions I am stuck with. They are also supportive as they encourage me to develop my knowledge and skills further.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • My training provider is supportive as they really encourage different types of learning. Such as discussion based learning, writing down notes, working in groups, working individually and listening to the tutor. They are helpful when marking my coursework and they give helpful feedback in my reviews which I have every 12 week.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I feel like my qualification helps me perform better in some ways as it is developing my knowledge overall. For example, learning about stakeholders really opened my eyes to how much we work with them. I do think I learn a lot in the work place but my qualification helps too.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • We have professional networking events such as a womens group which I am part of. We have also started a young persons network. There is activities such as the sports and social club, which I am not part of but it does give other employees the chance to connect with others.

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • Solenis are a great company because they take care of the employees and you feel valued. The wages are fair and there is so many benefits working for them. I enjoy my role and the people who work for Solenis are all lovely people so you will always feel welcomed.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Solenis?
  • My advice to anyone applying to Solenis is to be honest and yourself. You have to be honest about your personality and your experiences in your life so far. I would also say that talking about the skills you have already developed and would like to further develop is important as it shows commitment to improvement.
