  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I am a data science degree apprentice. I generally work on a couple of data science projects at a time. In these projects I use tools such as Power BI, Power Apps and Python. I also get one day off to spend on my university studies.

  • Yes, I have been given the opportunities to attend additional courses and boot camps and I have obtained various certifications as well.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • Everyone I have met is very friendly and always willing to help, The work I do is interesting and rewarding and there is an excellent work-life balance.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme is quite organised, one day a week is dedicated for university study and development, there are regular reviews with my manager and university tutor.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive a lot of support from my employer, I am given numerous opportunities to attend additional courses and pursue certifications, I am also permitted to claim the cost of attending academic conferences and other educational events.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I am given adequate support from my training provider, although they can occasionally be slow to respond to queries.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I believe studying towards my qualification has given me the necessary skills to be successful in my role. Whatever I learn at university is directly applicable to my day-to-day responsibilities.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • I regularly go on social events with my team and other apprentices. There are networking events to attend as well, both in person and virtual.

  • Yes

  • Excellent work-life balance, friendly and welcoming colleagues, various learning opportunities, compensation is great as well.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BP?
  • Research the company in detail, show that you are a keen learner and demonstrate your passion for the job you are applying for.
