  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • As a Credit Controller I manage the sales ledger on a day to day basis which has to be managed effectively to minimise bad debt and company exposure. Some of my daily tasks consist of; Outbound calls/emails to customers chasing outstanding debt inbound contact with customers and internal stakeholders Posting cash and allocating receipts received from customers Dealing with customer and internal queries Running monthly statements

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Since my L3 course commenced I have learnt new skills and being given additional responsibility. I have developed greater knowledge and enhanced my existing skillset. The extra responsibility has given me more confidence and belief in myself. I have also learnt how to carry out my studies virtually which is a new platform for me.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I have really enjoyed my learning. I was pretty apprehensive initially due to the online teaching however it actually very easy. I have enjoyed the challenges the training programme has given me along with the extra learning I have had to carry out such as functional skills level 2 in English and Maths.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The organisation and structure of the weekly AAT online tutor lessons are excellent, really well executed and overall structured great. Sessions always started promptly on time and and ended at the expected finish time. I never felt like we had not been able to squeeze something in or rushed through something just to get finished. The training provider has had staff shortages due to the recent pandemic however I was still able to make contact with alternative person if required.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • My employer is very supportive and has played an important support network throughout my learning. I have felt comfortable approaching my mentor and my colleagues for additional support when required and this has helped me tremendously. My mentor I feel has gained more confidence in me over the last year seeing witnessing and being part of my overall progress.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I have received a fair amount of support from my training provider however feel this would have been better had the pandemic not have happened. having said that the overall support is there and accessible any time I require it.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • My qualification helps me to perform better in my role as I have developed and gained greater understanding of accountancy and ethical principles.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Over recent months there have been different fund raising events which include sporting activities. Well being and mental health awareness has been a significant focus in recent times.
