  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role involves overlooking the daily performance of the business, managing partners and feedback any relevant key metrics to the stakeholders. This enables the business to the best of their ability. Alongside this part of my role, I would be a central point of call for partners to raise any technology related incidents and feed this back to the support teams for an investigation and prompt resolution.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • In my role, I'm able to develop my analytical skills by using standard software such as excel. I have the ability to develop my skills further through internal courses either via Vodafone directly or through partner websites, which I have done so mainly for data analytics, excel proficiency and stakeholder management.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I'm thoroughly enjoying the programme because it will allow me to develop my existing skills and learn new ones through the use of different programming languages. In my role we perform a range of analysis and through Data Academy the likes of SQL and python will allow me to further my analysis and save time for my workload and the team's workload.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme has a clear structure which was shared at the beginning of the course and is easily accessible. I know what to expect with clear deadlines for prep work, workshops and practice assignments. They are evenly spaced out throughout the year which allows me to pre-plan any time off or catch up on the material in my own time.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • My team leader is in constant conversations with me to ensure I receive the relevant time through my usual day to day workload as I'm required to provide 20% of my working week towards the apprenticeship programme. I also have regular catch ups with the decoded Mentor to ensure I'm on track.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I have regular catch ups with my mentor however, if I require any further support, I can easily get in touch with him for further guidance by either emailing him or setting up a call. We also have quarterly feedback sessions to go over any further support mechanism that I may require.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • So far, I'm at the very beginning of my training course therefore, I'm still in the process of finding out where my skills can aid the team and the business. However, the information I have learnt so far about data analysis has given me useful knowledge about gathering of the data and how it can be used throughout the business and which guidelines I should obey by.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Since the pandemic, my team has changed its ways of working from office based to home based therefore, I would not be attending any physical events on site. However, as a team, we have connect days where we get together on regular basis to have team bonding days which can include activities that we have pre-planned.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Vodafone to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • Vodafone in general is a good company to work for, they are involved with a range of support systems such as mental health or diversity programmes which makes them inclusive employer. Even though I'm now working from home, previously there was always a range of team bonding activities in the office which uplifted the atmosphere.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Vodafone?
  • Vodafone has a range of internal vacancy opportunities which allows people to move into different roles depending on their skill level. Alternatively it can allow you to expand on a set of different skills which in effect, will allow you to completely change your career path. The versatility has been the main part of why I like working for Vodafone.
