  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • On a day to day basis, I am helping my team to aid Customers in producing reports for them from our ticketing service. This work does go external but I mainly work within my team and internal teams. I have created specialised reports, created the new branding for them and I help on the interactive dashboards used for internal teams sometimes too.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Since joining this team, I have been able to focus on learning and my team has encouraged myself and other Apprentices to take up paid courses to enhance our understanding of our team/area and I hope to keep going over the summer.. also I am being exposed to SQL in a new project I am working on

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • Unfortunately due to the issues throughout the Apprenticeship mainly through lack of communication or Apprenticeship work related issues, if I was looking holistically I wouldn't be able to give a higher score, however it has greatly improved in the last few months and my newest team has been the most supportive team I've had and have greatly improved the experience overall

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The newest Apprentice provider has improved the structure compared to the previous provider however there has been times where lecturers haven't turned up or haven't set the resources meaning we have to chase, the resolution to these has always been swift though when mentioned to the coordinator. On Vodafone's side it is entirely dependent on luck whether you are placed into a good team or not, I am now in an amazing team but definitely haven't been before

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • It varies person to person, my current team is wonderful and couldn't fault them, the current Apprentice Lead does really help too however there is often HR policies or procedures in the way which really doesn't feel like the business supports us as a whole.. If there is a problem in your experience for example it tends to take a while for things to change, requires chasing on our side

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • When there is the lecturers and support there it is super helpful, I personally have always felt supported by most lecturers and it is such a step up from the previous apprentice provider. The Skills Coach reviews have been lacking but I don't find them particularly helpful, this was the same sort of structure as previously experienced with the reviews at the old Apprentice provider so wonder if it's just how they are structured across the UK

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • It has only now started becoming a bit more relevant to the Apprenticeship, the first year was generalised and focused on all differing modules. This year has become a bit more relevant to the course however I believe the modules next year will be a bit better.. I wish there was a programming module in there, that would really help

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Vodafone does have numerous fantastic networks you can join/become a part of, the Youth Committee host and plan numerous events at the two main offices encouraging people to come together a bit more, one to note is this week they have organised the Senior Leadership to come and talk to the Youth of Vodafone which have all been great so far

  • 9a. Would you recommend Vodafone to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • After all of my reviews I would recommend Vodafone as it is trying to strive to improve the programme for us, I would caveat this with I would hope you manage to get into a good team from the start as that determines your whole outlook on the programme. Data Analytics has so much opportunity here, we just need to be utilised a bit more so everyone can have a good experience

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Vodafone?
  • Look into the big new things Vodafone are bringing into the world and mention these in the interview! You will have to take control of your own career from the very start, being vocal is important to be able to give constructive feedback to the programme and try to take as many opportunities as you can.. Also make the journey to meet your peers, after Covid I think this is very important
