  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I have just moved to another role where I am a creative engineer in a sector called Technology Innovation. On a day-to-day basis I check emails, attend multiple meetings with my team and manager and work on the projects I am on. I am on a project with a robot arm in which I am coding it to enable parts to move

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I really enjoy the programme. The ability to change your job roe every 6-8 months allows me to not only understand different parts of the business but also what I like. I can also apply my university learning at my workplace and everyone is helpful and whenever you have a question

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The structure of the programme allows us to work 4 days a week and have a full day for university. This allows us time to work on our university work without having to worry about our role and having to balance the two. People are very aware and supportive of this and allow us to block out our calendar for the day

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • We get a lot of support from many different places. We are given buddies which are in our apprenticeship in the year above who we an have weekly calls with and can always go to for questions. Our managers can be our next line of call for anything work related who we have at least weekly chats with. Along with this we also have a mentor and everyone is always happy to answer questions and explain things when you are unsure.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • We get a tutor who meets up with us regularly for any questions and we are also made aware of who is teaching us a module in university and are given all their details for more university related questions. Although the university experience is all virtual I enjoy the layout as it allows you to discuss with peers.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • My qualification teaches me thins which are always linked back to the workplace. Most modules will always have question to ask the people at your workplace to see how it applies to where you work. Having assignments which also link both education and your workplace together also helps. Any skills you gain from university can also be applied.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Due to lockdowns, we were unable to meet in person for events. However, we have regular meetings/events within teams in which we can join in. There are also presentation clubs which you can take part in and many different groups which host games with prizes which is a great opportunity to meet new people
