  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • As somebody know if new to the construction industry i have enjoyed learning how the industry functions and operates. My apprenticeship programme has allowed me to further my knowledge whilst also gaining valuable site experience. This combination has allowed me to make a good impression within my company which has led to me being given more responsibility.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme has been structured to an extend however could be improved on. Having had to change learning providers mid way through the qualification led to some complications and some delays in the delivery of training. I have been one of the first employees in my company to go through this type of apprenticeship programme which has also meant the overall structure isn't quite right.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • My employer has been extremely supportive during my programme. Agreements between myself and my line-manager have meant i am able to be released from my normal day to day work to carry out the relevant apprenticeship work when required. My employer has also been very helpful when i have needed extra assistance on certain assignments.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • As previously mentioned due to moving learning providers mid way through the qualification there has been a few instances where communication could be better. The current learning provider is currently delivering the training in a different format then would normally be the case due to the circumstances. Despite this the level of support has been sufficient but again could be improved.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • Being new to the construction industry, the knowledge and experience gained by completing the qualification has been very beneficial for my role. The qualification has helped me to understand various processes involved in the industry which has meant i am able to better understand the projects i am involved in in my day to day role.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Within my company there is limited extra-curricular activities available due to employees being based in numerous locations. Social events are held throughout the year to mark certain events such as Christmas and the company annual awards night. Increasing the amount of extra-curricular activities is something i am looking to do once i have completed my qualification.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Octavius Infrastructure to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • My company has been extremely supportive regarding my apprenticeship. My line manager ensures that i am able to be released from my day to day work when required but also ensures i am heavily involved in the live projects the company is completing which in turn makes the qualification easier to complete.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Octavius Infrastructure?
  • The company focuses on personal attributes over experience so being able to demonstrate a high level of motivation, a willingness to learn and a good attitude will greatly improve the chances of being successful at the company. The company also covers a wide variety of projects so being able to adapt to different situations quickly will also be beneficial.
