  • Completing social care assessments across the borough for adults aged 18+ with a range of support needs. I.e. learning disabilities, mental health, physical disabilities etc

  • I have learned the background and theory behind my day to day job and why we do what we do relating to political reasons and more about how people react and respond. It has helped me to understand my place more in supporting the community

  • I enjoy the programme however it is hard work to try to balance a full time role and a university course with assignments

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Very well organised and structured. The use of moodle helps to keep us up to date with what happens on each session and gives you things to look back on.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • My employer has provided me with a practice educator and mentor to support me throughout the process and is giving me more hands on experience of the role along with days to work with other teams.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • MMU are very helpful and all of the tutors and library staff are always on hand to support. The app and website have a lot of information. Study skills coaches are also present with lots of training and helpful information

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • My qualification helps me to understand why social work is required. It helps to learn about oppressive and discriminatory ways in which people are treated and how we work to avoid this and promote their rights

  • No there are no extra curricular activities for me to get involved in at work. But there are a number at MMU

  • Yes

  • It is a helpful place to work with a lot of opportunities given to progress throughout your career.

  • If applying to Wigan Council I would be sure to look up the Deal and how this is implemented by Wigan Council to it's residents, staff and the borough.
