  • I have learned many new skills during my apprenticeship programme. Mainly, these include skills relating to aircraft maintenance and engineering techniques. • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy my apprenticeship programme very much. There are many elements of my apprenticeship and indeed I enjoy some more than others. A really enjoyable part of my apprenticeship was the first year in which I lived and studied away from home full time, as this was an opportunity to make new friends and learn new skills.

  • I think my apprenticeship programme has been really well structured. The first year spent away from home studying full time was really enjoyable and was a great opportunity to make new friends and learn new skills all while working towards my qualifications. The second and third years have been spent on various placements around the business, providing me with a very comprehensive understanding of all areas of the company.

  • The training provider has been very supportive over the 2 years I spent working with them to achieve my qualifications. • I think my qualifications have proved invaluable in my role and help me to perform better as I use the skills gained every day. My qualifications have given me a very well rounded education on engineering and specifically aircraft maintenance as it was a very tailored course and was designed with the intention of helping apprentices perform better further on in their careers.

  • 9a. Would you recommend British Airways to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • Overall they are a great employer. The perks and benefits are great and more importantly, so are the people. There is also a variety of courses and additional training on offer, and due to it being such a large company, there are so many different career paths and jobs that you can apply for.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to British Airways?
  • I would advise others to partake in work experience where possible, as this will not only give you a taste of the job and the company, but also give you a better chance of landing a full time job when you submit your application. This is what I done and I believe it helped me to get the apprenticeship.
