  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • On a day to day basis, I am working on live aircraft and gaining the experience to not only be able to complete my apprenticeship, but I am also learning new skills that I will be able to take forward with me throughout my career. It has also given me a large insight into the industry and has allowed me to ensure that I am enjoying the job.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt a plethora of new skills. These skills I am able to use to pass my apprenticeship but I will also be able to carry these on throughout my career and I am also able to use some of the skills at home or in my free time. I have also devolved skills that I had already acquired from previous jobs.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • So far, I have toughly enjoyed my apprenticeship and have relished the chance to be able to work in such a fascinating environment. The opportunity that the program has gifted me are endless and this testament to how amazing the apprenticeship has been constructed and how welcoming everyone is in the business.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The structure of the program has been nothing but extraordinary. I am able to come into the workplace everyday knowing what I need to undertake and that if I ever feel lost in what I should be doing, there is a structure in place where I am able to ask a diverse amount of people.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I can not describe the shear determination and perseverance from the management team. Especially the apprenticeship coinciding with the pandemic. Everyone day there is a new hurdle and a new challenge that my management team have been able to support not only myself, but also all of my other peers and also themselves.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • The training that I have received from my provider was good. The instructors were very very helpful and extraordinarily knowledgeable. The instructors were always there for any support that I needed for my training and they were there if I needed to go through something with them. The management team was good.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • The qualification that I will obtain from this apprenticeship will ensure that I am put in good stead to peruse a good career in aviation engineering. It enables to me open up many avenues that I am able to take thought my working career. This is not restricted to the aviation industry as the skills I have learnt are very applicable to other sectors of industry.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • At my workplace, there are copious amounts of extra-curricular activities that I am able to participate with. There are a wide range of partnerships that British Airways have with other companies and this allows me to experience more than just the same working day. These events are sometimes sponsored by British Airways and are always supported.

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • The experience that I have had with British Airways has been nothing short of a privilege and a honor to be apart of. I can not even start to reiterate what an amazing time I have had in my apprenticeship and how amazing they have conducted themselves through one of the most challenging times throughout the modern world.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to British Airways?
  • If you have a passion for aircraft you should seriously consider applying for this apprenticeship as the interviewers have a keen eye like this. Other advice I can also pass on is that you should be able to work well in a team, communicate clearly and enjoy days where no two are the same.
