Currently I am doing Accounts Payable. I process incoming invoices and credit notes, work with other departments to solve invoice queries, reconcile supplier accounts against statements we receive and deal with inbound supplier queries. I also send out remittance advices when required and have recently started processing supplier payment runs.
I have learned the whole role! I had no experience on starting this apprenticeship, so the whole role is completely new to me. I have learned how to use SAP, how to process supplier documents and how to respond to supplier queries. All of these have been new skills for me.
I enjoy my programme and work overall. Sometimes I do find the role a bit repetitive, but this gives me a good chance at reconciling processes I do. I like the team I work in and they are all really helpful. I have found the learning to be gradual, which is good for me as I am not too overwhelmed with new knowledge.
The programme is structured well. I was told on my first day roughly what I would be doing and have largely stuck to this. We are now starting to fi my learning at work in with the content of my apprenticeship. I am well supported by my whole team and have regular progress reviews.
My manager is very supportive. He check in regularly to see how I am getting on, both with my work and my learning. I feel confident that I can go to anyone in my team and HR department with an issue and it will be resolved both promptly and thoroughly.
I have regular progress reviews with my skills coach to see where I am in the programme and to address any issues I am having. I can easily ask any questions in the time between these reviews and I also get good feedback, both positive and constructive on any submissions I make.
I am starting to see that I am gaining more knowledge into how the accounting system works through the apprenticeship. I can now start to identify how this links to processed within my role. It has also given me more technical knowledge of how to carry out my role well.
We have social events at work. As I have not been here long, i don't know lots about activities, but we have events within my team and are currently planning an event within our office. I am aware that there is also a site wide Christmas party every year.
Yes
I feel it is a good place to work. I am recognised for good work and the team I work within have made me feel really welcome. There is a lot of change that has recently happened within the company, but everyone now seems to have the drive to make the company improve.
No 2 days are the same. Even if you have set tasks you complete daily, there is always something else that may need doing. You don't have to have a working knowledge of aerospace as this is picked up gradually. The SLT are supportive and will find a way to make work, work for you.
