  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • performing different experiments, determining how to undertake a reaction then when it has been completed running analysis on the product and sharing this with a team to decide the next steps to take for a certain project. getting involved in safety meetings and audits weekly and creating presentations to share on my work

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have been able to develop a wide rage of lab base and office based skills before the apprenticeship I had very little lab skill now I am able to confidently undertake new tasks in the lab independently. my presentation and data reporting skills have also improved and I now can do my own presentations to a large group

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I find my programme very enjoyable I am given 1 day a week to study towards my qualification the rest of the time I am treated like a full member of the team my work is trusted and people give me independence to make my own decisions I enjoy the course and the job

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • the programme is very well structured every week new material is released online this has a time frame on it and you are expected to keep unto date on the work released you then have quarterly meetings with a representative from the course provider to ensure there is no issues

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive a lot of support from my employer there is always time for me to ask member of the team for help with work and they are always willing to support me there is also the option to have extra time to complete course work during the work day

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I r4ecieve a good amount of support every week new material is released with multiple resources attached to help further my understanding of a topic there is also plenty of online sessions to join live and the option to be able to call or email tutors for additional support should I need it

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I feel my qualification supports my day to day role by giving me additional theory knowledge to surround the work I do this gives me a greater understanding and helps me to make decisions on the next steps to take in regards to a project's which needs problem solving and on going work

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • there are many additional activities to become involved in such as charity events to raise money as a team there is an onsite gym to join classes before work durning lunch or afterwork and there are mny group activities put on for team building such as nights out and walks

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • the company is very welcoming, there is a lot of support provided for new starters especially those working towards a qualification no body is ever too busy to help you, with the company there are also great employee benefits and lots of opportunities to grow as an individual while learning and gaining valuable industry experience


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Lubrizol?
  • to have a strong interest in the sector and enjoy working in a science based role which requires problem solving and repeating experiments to find the cause of issues. to be able to work well within a team setting and have good time management skills to be able to organise your work day and study commitments
