  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have completed a course about leading myself to success in the workplace. I found this course really valuable for my life long development and workplace mindset. I continuously develop my dashboarding skills on Powerbi and Microsoft spread sheeting using excel. My presentation and leadership skills are 2 that I develop as part of my everyday role

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • It has been difficult as the recruitment for the apprentice manager was vacant for a while and even now recruited is limited. support from MMU is great, I have my dedicated skills coach who is fantastic! she couldn't be any more supportive! The lecturers in my final year have also been incredibly supportive.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I have received so much support from my line manager and my mentor. Their guidance with problems and support with academia is second to none and always have time to help. Support is easily assessable, whether this is academic support or mental health support, AZ is excellent in supporting staff

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I have a dedicated skills coach from my training provider MMU and she is faultless. She is always on the other end of the phone and I feel she has my best interests at heart - both academically and personally. She always checks in regarding uni progress but also work progress and personal welfare and I feel if i had any issues at all I could be open and honest with her.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • My degree aligns perfectly with the permanent role I have secured at the end of my apprenticeship. I feel more qualified than some members of my new team as they are asking them to teach them modules I have completed through university. The work I am completing in the workplace provides perfect examples for university work based projects.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Due to covid, company events have been limited but now covid is starting to pass, AZ is now introducing events such as face to face sessions with our CDIO. AZ support east Cheshire hospice and teenage cancer trust so charity events are also available to get involved in. There is also on site gyms and leisure classes you can use too.

  • 9a. Would you recommend AstraZeneca to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • Doing my apprenticeship at AstraZeneca has been the biggest and best opportunity of my life. Both my academic and personal development has grown like I could never imagined and I work with some of the best people! I have loved every minute of my apprenticeship and look forward to completing my degree this year and starting my permanent role at AZ

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to AstraZeneca?
  • Be honest in your application, you are not expected to have a compete level of knowledge! Show a willingness to learn and engage in assessment centres. The people who stay silent when in group sessions and don't ask any questions are less likely to be successful! Be yourself and enjoy the assessment centres!
