At the moment I am currently at college for a 6 month block where I am learning and practicing skills required to be a trained multi-skilled engineer in the food and drink industry. In between college blocks, I am back at Premier Foods where I apply the skills and knowledge that I have gained at college into working practice.
I have learnt many new skills such as, welding, thermal cutting, electrical and mechanical maintenance, health and safety, and machining.
Starting an apprenticeship has been one of the best decisions I've made for my career. I get to learn skills and gain nexperience that my employers want, whilst earning a salary and completing a nationally recognised qualification. It also feels great to have an employer that are highly supportive of my career development.
The programme is well organised into dedicated learning blocks to allow more effective training so that I am better prepared for the workplace.
My apprenticeship is fully funded and I have plenty of support from my employer when I need it.
Plenty of support is provided by the college to ensure my time there is successful.
The qualification is critical for ensuring that I will be a fully competent multi-skilled engineer after my apprenticeship.
There are extracurricular activities, however most of my time is focused on training to ensure I maximise my time there and get the most out of my apprenticeship.
