  • Carry out maintenance on pumping stations across the waste region, and carry out reactive work fixing issues

  • Learnt a lot from college, health and safety, advanced maths, electrical, then learnt job specific bits like how pumping stations and the waste networks work

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy it, my colleges and peers are great and I like the work hours 7:30-15:36

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The first year was not great due to an awful college Guilford activate, but no it's better at Basingstoke college, work is getting better structured due to gaps in management which have now been filled

  • Alot of support with regular reviews and meetings, an issues I feel I can easily raise

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • Enough support this year at BCOT last year at Guildford was poor

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • Mixed, some units we study are pointless I don't think we would ever use them but some are good like electrical and health and safety units

  • Not that I know of

  • 9a. Would you recommend Thames Water to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • Because it's a good place to work in terms of enjoyment and good levels of support. Also you learn enough for good personal development


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Thames Water?
  • Don't apply if you don't like sewage as it can be a dirty job, apart from that go for it, it's such a big company so there is opportunity to move and progress
