I am a member of a team which provides application support. I am a fully participating member of my team. My roles include basic admin actions along with app support including updating tables and problem solving. We work with SQL using SSIS packages to run reports; we manage apps with front end web pages and back end databases so our daily tasks include managing both these systems.
I have completed 6 MTAs since I started; WE are in the middle of implementing LEAN training for our team. I have learned to work with SQL, SSIS packages, Visual studio, HTML and other technologies. Most of the applications are custom internal apps so they have various technologies and I have become comfortable with them all so far.
I enjoy my program a lot I have a lot of responsibility in my team and this is important to me. College has benefitted me a lot as I hadn't previously done any IT qualifications.
The company is very good, I have been treated as a full employee since the very start.
I find the programme well structured, there is plenty of time to do college work and company work within the time frames and Fujitsu has been very understanding of my workload.
Tutors are always available and always there to give advise.
As with the tutors my manager is very good at facilitating my learning and supporting me. The company as a whole are also very good as they provide other supplemented learning opportunities such as workshops and pluralsight.
The salary is around minimum wage and I understand that it is an apprenticeship and not a professional role but it makes it hard as regards living costs and social costs. For example I would find it hard/impossible to live on my own.
Yes there are plenty of opportunities outside of work within Fujitsu, including lots of charity work, clubs and working with local colleges.
Yes
First and foremost it is a career not just a job so hard work is rewarded. The company atmosphere is very good.
Research the company, understand what it is they do and what they are about. Refer to the role you are applying for and how Fujitsu approach this area.
