1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

Well on a day to day basis it starts of by coming in to work and doing cleaning which lasts between 30-60 minutes then you work with your mentor on a variety of jobs or if you need to work on anything specific there’s always a tech in on the work shop skilled in that area it’s really amazing and you learn quite a lot and expand your knowledge everyday.

2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have learnt many new skills not just skills in the workshop You learn how to speak to customers as you will almost certainly deal with them near enough on a day to day basis as well as how to strip a gearbox and also not long ago re-built an engine back together.

3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I enjoy my programme a lot I like working with everyone in the workshop and also seeing my classmates up at college and developing my skills at college and in the workshop you pick up a lot of things in both environments which really helps make that experience even more beautiful.

4. How well organised/structured is your programme?

Well it’s quite difficult at the moment with the new EPA standards rather than the old framework but your dealership along with the college and your skills coach make sure that the experience is easy flowing and not too difficult but you will face hardships as you do with anything you go to conquer

5. How much support do you receive from your employer?

A lot of support all you have to do is ask they want you to better yourself and are more than willing to help you at any given moment they want to see me succeed and all the other apprentices so definitely have received tons and tons of support from my employers

6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

A lot again all you have to do is ask questions and revise and keep asking questions Remember no question is a stupid question so don’t be afraid to put your hand up and ask as well using the facilities they have in the amazing workshop everyone is here to help you towards your end goal

7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

It helps me perform a lot better as you do things you might have not had the chance to do in the workshop so when it comes to doing it in the workshop you can as well as learning the different roles in the company which helps expand your take on being a hgv technician

8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

There’s a lot of extra events going on it’s been quite hard for me personally as I started during the covid period but as everything is going back to normal there’s been a lot of opportunities for me to get involved in the other events going on but I just haven’t taken advantage of them.

9a. Would you recommend MOTUS Commercials to a friend?

Yes

9b. Why?

Because motus is a really good company to work for there’s amazing people there lots of support always someone you can talk to and they’ll be happy to lend you an ear as well as learning a lot of new skills in the workshop and out of it it’s a really friendly environment and would recommend anyone who wants to get into the trade to try and apply for motus commercials

10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to MOTUS Commercials?

The tips I would give is just be yourself don’t change who you are everyone at motus are all friendly faces and they have a variety of apprenticeships available for you depending on what you want to do but as I said in my first point just remember to be yourself.
