  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I am an apprentice site engineer working on Substations. The majority of my day involves me managing subcontractors to make sure that they are working safely and then that they have someone at the point of work to ask questions too. I also complete any relevant documentation needed for the day or I have been asked to do by my site manager

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • The most important skill I have learnt is managing people because the staff on site are continuously changing and so there is always a mixture of personalities. I am also developing my time management skills by trying to find the right balance between college and working on site for long periods of time.
