  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I was given the Role of a PCO (Project Control Officer) which entails the monitoring of projects and running of meetings to ensure things are running smoothly, I was then given various aspects of current projects to run and look after, I worked with a lot of teams both internally and externally, this helped me to broaden my horizons and build my confidence. I am responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of certain tracker documents for our internal releases and defects, all of which took training and individual learning to achieve, but in doing so I was able to learn new skills which helped me later in my apprenticeship.

  • The level of commitment to training me for my role has been substantial, I have always felt welcomed and valued as a member of the team, Fujitsu has never given me a reason to feel undervalued or feel like I am less in value than any one else in the company, with respect to role and experience.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The Apprentice programme could be structured more as when I arrived, there were no plans for me, nor any work prepared, and the structure was loose when compared to schemes such as the graduate scheme of the IP scheme, which has more ice breakers and bonding (whereas in the Apprentice programme there was no introduction and it was weeks if not months before proper contact could be made)

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • I lived at home, and had no car when i started so the costs were fine, however as I paid for driving lessons each month and eventually bought my car, the salary could be quite tight, then planning to move into my own place made money a lot tighter with possible rent costs, the outcome being i have not yet moved out because of funding.
