My role is to make sure that the products we manufacture are of a high quality and that we maintain compliance with legislation. I audit production paperwork on a daily basis, attend level 1 daily directional meetings, create quality attribute sheets, compile weekly customer complaints data into a weekly summary ready for management.
I have learnt many new skills during my time in the Technical department. Whilst completing my apprenticeship I have learnt all about food technology,, health and safety and maintaining legal compliance. I have attended many courses including HACCP Level 3 and Auditing Level 3. Personally I feel that I have widened my depth of knowledge and I feel confident in executing my job professionally.
I really enjoy the programme. At first I found it difficult to step back into the world of education, I had been left college for 4 years so it was quite a long time away from education. I got back into it with ease, I had full support from my company and the team at NCFM are so helpful and attentive.
My programme is very structured and organised, it's been difficult to adapt during the pandemic but the team at NCFM have been incredible by being able to deliver the course via Microsoft Teams. I have time to study during the week and complete my tasks, my mentor is very supportive too and always helps when I ask for it.
I receive a lot of support from my employer, they believed in me to join the programme and believed that I would succeed. I feel valued as an employee and I am grateful that I have been able to better myself and progress into a promising career in Food Manufacturing.
My training provider and my tutors that work for them are absolutely wonderful people. They are always available to help anyone if they can, they are focused, attentive and very knowledgeable. My tutors always push to get the best out of my work and if I run into any problems they always guide me.
The different sections of the course have enabled me to execute my job with much more ease, things that I would have to research before come much more naturally to me now. I feel that I am able to put the theory that I have learnt into my every day role at work. I am much more familiar with the food industry and I am confident that I would be able to have in depth conversations with other industry professionals.
I act as one of the sites Charity Champions. This enables us to have events every couple of months that we can all get involved in outside of work to raise money for our partnered charity. I have done this for 3 years now and once a year we get to go down to London for an annual Charity Champions Day.
Yes
I would recommend my workplace because it is a great place to work and their are opportunities to learn and challenge yourself all the time. The site that I work at are like a family, we spend a lot of time with each other and we all learn every day.
The application process is very straightforward and the team that interview talent are extremely nice. Inductions are intense but equally enjoyable. The opportunities that you may receive are incredible. I have worked for the business now for 8 years and If you would have told me at my interview that I would soon be a qualified Food Technologist, I would have laughed. Always be prepared for a challenge and just enjoy the time that you can spend with the lovely people that work for Premier Foods.
