  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I am a Technical Auditor responsible for auditing against the BRC Standard, Customer standards, Red tractor Standard. I also conduct CCP, GMP, CLAS Microbiology laboratory audits as full completing traceability audits. I take the lead on annual haccp reviews, and assist in creating and implementing new haccps.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have been at Ambrosia for 20 years, where I have gained lots of experience and qualifications. The site has such a variety of processing and filling equipment that there is always something new to learn. During the apprenticeship modules I have learnt more about our ingredients and the functions the provide within the products.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy being part of Premier Foods. I feel like a positive member of the team and by completing the apprenticeship I hope to increase my knowledge in order to benefit the business and to expand my role. It has been really good to experience to go back to college and have a new challenge.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I have been lucky to be enrolled on the apprenticeship programme and have received support from the Company. To get the most from the course and to successfully complete it I will need to be exposed to more areas of the business to apply the leanings to complete the assignments.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I feel I have the support from the site, I have been offered help and support as needed. The company has bought me some books which are going to be invaluable throughout the course. The course is very much self taught and you need to ask for support from the different departments as required.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • The tutors are great and really make you feel at ease, they are always happy to help and support as required. All pieces of work are marked and returned with feedback to help improve the standard of work going forward.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • For day to day auditing tasks it will have a small benefit as the tasks are routine. I feel it will help to fill the gaps in my knowledge and be of great benefit during CCP audits, haccp reviews, investigation work and during new equipment / product launches.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • This year most of the extra-curricular activities have been unable to take place. Usually there are lots of opportunities to get involved with sporting and social activities.

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • I am proud to work at Ambrosia, Premier Foods. The company has always been very supportive of my family and I over the years. It is a friendly place to work with great people, and lots to do and learn. If you want to learn there are lots of courses available and there is scope to develop and progress within the business.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Premier Foods?
  • Ambrosia is a large employer in the local area which supports many family's. It's a great place to learn and experience various food manufacturing processes. You need to be able to learn and pick up things quickly, being able to work in a team and support each other.
