  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role is a Nursery Practitioner. I am currently a keyworker to six children. Throughout each week I plan observations and next steps for my children to reach. Planning activities alongside this that links to helping their development. I partake in creating a stimulating environment for the children, by setting out engaging activities.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have developed many skills within this role. I have learnt more about the EYFS, especially for the younger age groups. Additionally, through doing my apprenticeship I have so far learnt more on child illnesses. I have learnt more about standing policies on health and safety. Furthermore, I have learnt more on how to deal with challenging behaviour.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I really enjoy the programme I do my level three with. My training providers and assessor are all very helpful, providing me with all the tools I need to complete my units. The book I use to help with my work really supports my learning and has enhanced my knowledge.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • My programme is very organised, I was shown how to use the online site and log my work before I was set any units. It is layed out simply and my assessor helps whenever I need further support. Work is set monthly along with scheduled visits or phone calls prior to the day.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • All the staff I work with and my employers help whenever I seek for their support. They always provide me with additional support and knowledge to guide my learning. We have regular meetings and one to one meetings which is an opportunity to discuss further any areas I need help on.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • My training provider always gives me lots of support. Marking my work promptly and detailing any areas that need improving. They communicate deadlines really clearly, setting work achievable in the time frame. When explaining my next unit, examples will be given on how I should approach the unit, to enhance my understanding.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • My qualification is working towards making me a better practitioner. Gaining knowledge or improving on areas I already know. It all relates to my practice and I can link most my work to my current setting. Making it all relevant, all of the units are very interesting to complete as I am aiding my knowledge.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Within my work setting, there have previously been charitable events. Additionally, we have had various volunteers come in, such as char char chimps, which is a dance class for the children. For the older ones we have had a pe teacher come in to allow the children to do more exercise. We have also started a forest school, to allow the children to explore and learn more about the outside environment.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Tiny Acorns Nursery to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • The nursery I work for is exceptional. It has a diverse and supportive team, always putting the children first. We have a range of resources to support the childrens learning and development,. The nursery has a structured daily routine, which all the children are aware of, giving them lots of garden time as well as indoor activities.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Tiny Acorns Nursery?
  • Tips I would give to a candidate applying for a role at my company is having a friendly nature to fit in with the team and a high enthusiasm for working with children. Showing a passion for creating a fun, stimulating environment for all of the children, providing them with the best foundation in their early years.
