  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I manage multiple projects day to day. Ahead of a project starting, I write the commercials including requirements, which are sent to the customer for signing. Once a project has started, I organise meetings both internally and with the customer, write and send reports to the customer, and update monthly finances.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I only started my degree in January. The one module that I have completed was on Requirements and Stakeholder Management. The module made me realise the importance of establishing requirements at the beginning of a project and the importance of regular communication with all stakeholders, especially customers, to gain their trust.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I have only being doing my degree since January, but I have been enjoying it so far. The content is very relevant to my day to day role and I think the weekly workshops I attend are well set out, especially as it is all being done at home at the moment. We are sent into breakout rooms with other students to complete different activities on each topic.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • My manager has supported me since I started my degree back in January. I have fortnightly on to ones with her and she is aware that I now do four day weeks and has adjusted my workload accordingly. If I have been struggling with my workload, she has redistributed my work within the team.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I have been impressed with the support I have received from my training provider. I have weekly workshops with my tutor which I am able to ask questions in, alongside weekly office hour drop in sessions. I have regular meetings with my skills coach. There are also sessions run by the ACE team which I am able to book onto to help with skills such as how to structure assignments and referencing.

  • I have only done one module so far which was on Requirements and Stakeholder Management. • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • I have been working from home since March 2020 so have not been able to get involved in any extra curricular activities. However I did join a call during National Apprenticeship week to speak to some of the new apprentices who have joined in the last year about my career since joining Fujitsu.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Fujitsu to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • I have been working at Fujitsu for the last 5 years and I am happy with how my career has progressed in that time. Everyone I have met over the years has always been friendly and willing to help if I need it and answer any questions I might have.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Fujitsu?
  • Before the pandemic, Fujitsu had lots of different events and activities and I would encourage any new joiners to take part in as many as possible to expand their network and see what different areas of the company do. For example, attending careers fairs, charity fundraising events and joining different networks or groups.
