  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I work as a Supervisor in the Rights and Permissions International Higher Education team. I oversee the end-to-end rights workflow, assessing the use of third-party assets in print and digital educational products for Higher Education UK. This includes managing an offshore vendor team, developing workflows, processes and ensuring best practice.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Working for Pearson, I have access to a whole suite of courseware, mentors, superusers and training opportunities. We are able to take charge of our own learning and as such I have completed courses on time management, editorial functions, expanded my knowledge of rights and key business systems and processes.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • What I love about Pearson is its open culture - you can be yourself. It fosters an environment that is respectful, collaborative, supportive, diverse, inclusive and it allows you to challenge yourself if you want to be challenged. It offers alot of opportunities and I feel very fortunate to work here.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I have been so impressed with the apprenticeship program. It is so well structured and easy to follow. There is so much support and accessible guidance available. I learnt so much in my first week alone boosting my confidence. I also have dedicated time to study which is so helpful.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I can't praise my employer enough. First, to provide this opportunity. Secondly, the support has been amazing. The programme managers have been excellent providing support networks internally and a wealth of information. My line manager and HR have given their support too. This has been a really positive process.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • The Open University have been amazing. The course materials are so well structured and accessibility to learning materials is excellent. I have a dedicated module tutor and Practice Tutor who are very supportive and readily available. It is a really positive, inspiring and engaging environment and I am very impressed.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I have just started my apprenticeship so have alot to learn. Even in the first few weeks of induction and currently on week 2 of my course, I have learnt so much. I have no doubt that I will be implementing much of what I have learnt in my job.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Pearson provides alot of opportunities for you to get involved in areas that are of interest. We have a dedicated site that provides access to groups globally which opens up a very collaborative environment. There are volunteer opportunities, hobbies and interest groups, social groups, awareness groups and so much more.

  • Yes

  • Pearson is an inclusive workplace that provides opportunities for its employees from career progression to learning and development, It also recognises and rewards performance. I was awarded the 2019 'Difference Maker Award', nominated by my colleagues. It is an inspiring place to work and I am proud to work here.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Pearson plc?
  • Be bold, have courage, be brave. Market yourself using experiences that align with the job description. Doesn't have to be work-related, could be something you do in your spare time or as a parent, but make it relevant. Try to stand out and make the most of the opportunity.
