  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role is to support the coaching and development of the retail team within the company this can involve remote learning along with in-store 1 2 1 and team sessions. this is to support the embedding of sales structures and support the store colleagues development. along with supporting the management teams across a region

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Their is a ongoing development of my skills through on the job experience to virtual classrooms hosted by BUD this also include completing research and group training that I then apply to my day to day job along with creating a reflective log that I can look back to as my apprenticeship goes on

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I personally enjoy the program a lot I enjoy learning the new skills, behaviours and knowledge and then having the opportunity to apply it to my day to day job. the skills that I have learned have been enabled me to do my job to a higher standard which is great for the company to

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I find the structure of the programme very easy to follow and is structured in such a way I know what to look forward to next while how it also links into one another. the resources are well thought out and easily accesible. I have also had monthly check ins which have been great.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • My employer has been great for allowing me the time to complete my work along side my day to day job. the hardware required to do the apprenticeship was also supplied and I feel I have access to external support as and when I need it from both my line manager and the mentor

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I have a direct line of contact with my mentor and also the functional skills tutor which I have had to contact via email on a few occasions and they offered a quick reply and even gave the option of a virtual session to take place via Microsoft Teams as well.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • every new skill that I have learned up to now has been very effective to my day to day role. once I have fully completed the qualification I believe it will give me all the tools required to give back to the company. even now I am putting my learned theory into practice.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • I currently have not had access to any thing like this. there have been links shared to external networking references that I have been able to use and I have also been made aware of other support networks that are available to anyone that is part of a apprenticeship program.

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • they are a good company to work for that I feel have been supportive with my personal development along with all of the new measures they are putting in place to keep the company strong. the investment they are making into ups skilling the workforce is also very impressive so the customers experience is improved.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Dixons Carphone?
  • I would say be willing to work hard for the desired outcome. look to take advantage of the support that is offered and available and be willing to always take a step back and look at what is infant of you and if a change of approach is needed feel confident to take the actions needed.
