  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I am an investment content apprentice, my daily tasks are maintaining the consultant databases and our Request for Proposal machine. My role involves having to contact several members within my department on a daily basis asking for updated paragraphs for information of their funds etc alongside starting to complete smaller RfI's for clients

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I am increasing my knowledge of the asset management sector every week that passes. During my apprenticeship I have to complete the Investment Operations Certificate (IOC), I have already passed the first one of three exams that I have to take. My interpersonal skills are correlatively increasing as communication with different levels of seniority increases.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I am enjoying my programme a lot, I will certainly tell others that if the opportunity were to arise, go with the M&G apprentice programme.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by M&G?
  • I feel very valued by both my team and M&G as a whole. The environment is very calm and everyone is happy to help. Your value to others around you is not depleted due to you being an apprentice, everyone makes you feel as if you're are on the same level.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • It is very well structured. The support we get from the apprenticeship cannot be beaten, any issue that you come across is sorted professionally and efficiently. We get regular support meetings and the line managers are very understanding with how many hours you need during work time to revise for your exam.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • We receive monthly reviews from our training provider, which is more than enough, if you have further questions outside of meetings the they are happy to help.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive good support from my employer, as I said earlier, everyone makes you feel valued, this is only further extenuated by the willingness of others to help.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • My salary meets all of my costs, after necessary expenses such as travel, living etc there is money left over to socialise and a little bit to save as well.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • There are many opportunities, I attend all events that are offered by programmes such as investment 2020 etc, alongside internal talks held within our auditorium.

  • 9. Would you recommend M&G to a friend?
  • Yes

  • Friendly, helpful company with a great environment that makes you feel valued and offers you the opportunity to start your journey on the career ladder without having to cope with university debt.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to M&G?
  • Be as assertive as possible. M&G likes potential employees that learn about company history and take a keen interest in what we do and how we operate, use this research to your advantage in the application process and your interviewers will be impressed.
