  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Our daily tasks include constructing and learning about electrical installations and electrical theory. This includes creating containment systems out of trunking, tray and conduit, learning how to wire up circuits, fault finding and correct testing of circuits and installations. We also learn and do the paper work that would be required to be completed when in industry placements.

  • 9a. Would you recommend AWE to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • AWE have been doing apprenticeships for over 75 years and are well structured with great support from your instructors as well your colleagues. They care a lot about you as an individual rather than you just being an number and provide you training that is very closely related to industry and jobs on site.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to AWE?
  • The application and interviews can take a long time but are worth it in the end. They care more about you and a person and your mind set than school grade and academia abilities, so even if you weren't the best at school they won't care. Just apply.
