  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Supporting secondary aged pupils who have been excluded from mainstream school in an alternative educational provision. I support learning within the classroom through nurturing, individualised educational plans. As most of our students are SEN, they need one-to-one daily support through differentiated resources and learning, as well as real-life experiences that will help them progress educationally and within the wider community.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • During my first year on my apprenticeship, I had an amazing couple of weeks training within my apprenticeship area ensuring I felt comfortable in my field of work and had the knowledge to go into teaching. I picked up many other skills on the job with hands on learning and real life experience. I was able to get the feel of the classroom and shadow other colleagues watching their teaching strategies and learning from how they act within the classroom.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy my teaching programme a lot! I never thought I would get into teaching, but the moment I joined my course, I absolutely loved every minute of it. I truly believe that it is because I chose an amazing apprenticeship company, the course instructors were amazing and the prior learning and experiences they set up for us was so helpful.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • As mentioned earlier, the programme was very well structured and organised. The tutors knew what they were doing and had great people skills that just really helped build my confidence within my role as a teacher. The programme always offers opportunities to professionally develop and the help doesn’t extend to just getting you a job. They really stick with you and help you to set goals and understand where you’d like to go in career terms.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive a lot of support from my employer, they are always a phone call or email away with any queries I have. If ever I need help with something or additional support with my course they are always willing to provide resolutions to help you through the course. I have recently had some difficulties in my role as a teacher and they were very supportive and really helped me through this hard time.

  • I receive amazing support at the moment. I am currently doing the level 5 learning and skills teacher course and have amazing support from my instructor as well as from the rest of my apprenticeship team. I am constantly motivated to try harder and gain extra learning experiences and qualifications where possible.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • My qualification has helped me perform better as it has given me the ability to get real-life, hands on experience within a school. My training provider helped me through my level 3, level 4 and now level 5 which has helped me professionally develop within my workplace too. They have guided me through the courses with the knowledge, skills and behaviours to work within this role.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Yes, there are many social events to get involved in, they have hosted quizzes, they send out a newsletter that is interactive. At the start of my course, they offered a two- week introductory course that allowed me to meet other apprentices and work with the organisation to professionally develop.

  • 9a. Would you recommend LMP Group to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • I had heard so many negative things about apprenticeship companies, and after researching into a few, I came across let me play and they sounded very supportive and hands on with the apprenticeships. I was absolutely over the moon that I did pick them as they have stuck by me through my progression of three different learning levels. They supported me through my course but also offered support for me outside of my work and made sure that I was on track with everything. Everyone on the team acts professionally and is so supportive, they are always willing to go the extra mile to support every individual. I’ve had first hand experience of this and seen and heard from other apprentices I know through Let me Play.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to LMP Group?
  • Go for it! If you’re thinking of applying for an apprenticeship, Let Me Play is the provider to go with. Even if you believe you’re not ready or you don’t know anything about the Job you want to go into .. don’t worry - Let Me Play will support you right through it and ensure you feel confident enough to start that job role.
