  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I have supported with admin activities regarding various tasks within various departments. I have taken part in 4 rotational placements throughout the company and have had great exposure to business operations at BA. This includes note taking in meetings , communicating with stakeholders, setting up meetings and also many other tasks.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have developed great confidence with in the workplace, as adjusting to a corporate job straight from college was a great way to challenge myself. I have also become more organized and learnt to communicate well with others well, this is through attending meetings with various people of different levels.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy my program a lot, mainly due to its diversity. No two days are the same within the aviation industry and this is something I’v found exciting. I have also received a lot of support from managers and apprentice coaches throughout, which has helped me to develop greatly.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme structure was meant to consist of four 6 month placement rotations. But as a result of Covid this was disrupted due to market conditions and furlough. However, I have still gained great experience and been able to learn and develop a lot. Considering the circumstances it has been well organized.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I have recieved a lot of support, especially from placement managers and apprentice managers. I attended regular 1 to 1’s where I discuss my well-being and ways to develop. Now that I am nearing the end of my course , I am also receiving great support to prepare to apply for roles.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • My training provider has provided great support regarding my qualification and is always available if needed. We have regular meetings to catch up and discuss my progress and I am always receiving feedback regarding my assignment work. They are very supportive and also help with and queries regarding my role at BA.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I believe my training provider has provided great support which has enabled me to perform better in my role. With the right training it has been possible for me to develop my knowledge of business operations which has been needed to excel with in my role. They also help me to stay organized.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • As apprentices before Covid restrictions were enforced , we had regular social events and activities to meet up outside the workplace. There is now a virtual coffee break with takes place once a week for the whole organization, where we can join to network with people and just have a general chat.

  • 9a. Would you recommend British Airways to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • As it has been a great opportunity to develop and also to identify what area of work I want to go into, as I’ve gained great exposure in many areas. It’s also been a great way to network with professionals and enter into the company as a young professional.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to British Airways?
  • Ensure you research the company well and make sure you get your passion for aviation and for the role across. It’s also key to prepare some examples to showcase your own experience and any skills you may have that will prepare you for the role. Plus most importantly be yourself!
