  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • In my role, I am expected to navigate Globe which is a software for accountancy. There are different areas which require my attention in order for me to successfully do my job. For example, I attach cash receipts, retrieve remittances as well as a lot of other tasks. I am expected to work in a team on a daily basis as well.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have gained an appreciation for accountancy and learnt a lot about the software that we use. Personally, I would say my most developed skill would be my communication skills. I already had a sense as a result of past careers but due to the change of setting, it has been in greater demand

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy my programme a lot. The job has given me the abilities to learn and understand how the accountancy world functions. As well as the experience, the online classes provide a lot of flexibility in terms of being able to do it in the comfort of my own home.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The online classes are very consistent as they occur on the same day of the week at the same time. This allows me to comfortably rely on them to provide me with the information I need. There are various emails and people that I an able to contact if I need her

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Due to being an apprentice, I require a lot of support which my employer and coworkers provide endlessly. They explain everything I need to do thoroughly and help me if I get stuck. There are various forms of platform that I am able to contact them on (e.g. teams, outlook etc.)

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • At the moment, I’m not struggling with the content so I don’t require much assistance. However, I know that there are various ways to contact the learning provider in order to receive the help needed. For example, a simple email to them would be enough to get the help needed.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • Learning skills partnership has done a lot to help me perform better in my role. For example, they were able to let me gain a deeper appreciation for accountancy and how everything is able to function and flow smoothly. It has helped a lot in my job to understand the terminology.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There is a social club that has been mentioned where everyone donates money to do a group outing and have fun together. However, due to the current circumstances with COVID, these haven’t been occuring but I look forward to them restarting. I can’t wait until these are back in action!

  • 9a. Would you recommend P C Henderson Ltd to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • It has successfully trained a lot of apprentices and allowed them to bloom into their role swiftly. This hasn’t came out of nowhere and with their expertise, it is a programme that many would be lucky to be a part of. I am grateful for being one of them people.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to P C Henderson Ltd?
  • I would say to be themselves and have fun while applying as too much pressure would cause it to become stressful rather than a learning curve. In addition, it helps to have a bit of background knowledge about the learning provider as well as the company for the apprenticeship/job.
