  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role revolves around resolving incidents for different members of the barclays bank, across the globe. these people can be from any barclays site across the world. they raise an incident which details the issues they're facing, where we then help from our side to resolve the issue they're having.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • my interpersonal skills are constantly improving, through being exposed to new people i wouldnt have normally spoken to. i've improved technically, through exposure to new software tools. ive also become more confident using online learning methods and communication, via webex. my ability to communicate with those from different cultures and backgrounds has improved, due to the scope of Barclays bank.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I love the programme. I am constantly grateful for the opportunity i have at Barclays, to progress up the ladder and improve myself each and every day. To have a degree paid for me, whilst being paid to work and gain valuable work experience, is just the best. I have the best of both words, regarding post-college work/education.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Very well structured. I have the ability to undertake and meet yearly tasks and challenges, done both on my own and in small groups of apprentices. this helps make relationships with fellow apprentices, as well as learn to work better individually, whilst trying to achieve the targets and challenges set for me by my careers coach.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Lots. I am constantly supported by multiple parties at the Bank. From colleagues, to my line manager. From my careers coach to graduates and year 4 apprentices, everybody is available to help no matter the issue at hand. there are external websites and places to document personal issues too, all set up by Barclays.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • Good support. It is difficult to work online, as lecturers are flooded with messages daily. despite this, they manage to get back to us within a couple of days. If on campus, i would expect support to be much more readily available, however the support received when working from home has been great.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • the content on my degree is very relevant to the workplace environment. the skills learned are all based around the different tools, software and procedures carried out within my team. the selection of 4 pathways when going in to year 2 at uni has also narrowed the scope, so the content is even more relevant due to the specific choices being aligned to the workplace content.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • I have been unable to do so, due to having to work from home. despite this, i have heard there are lots of additional activities such as the gym, 5k walks and runs, as well as football and tennis. all of which i am sure to get involved in, as soon as the workplace is open again.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Barclays to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • It is a massive company, with great opportunities to grow and develop each and every day. they have the ability to offer amazing training, facilities, interesting fields of work and many more great features. Barclays provide great opportunities which I am only at the start of discovering, so cannot wait to find out more ways to enjoy life at work.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Barclays?
  • Be yourself. During interviews, be yourself. If you try to be someone else, they wont see the true value you provide to the bank. Stay confident in yourself, as they want to see the best version of you. Enjoy the application process, see it as an opportunity to show the world of Barclays that you deserve to be a part of the Bank. If you do this, you'll have the best chance to succeed.
