My day to day responsibilities include content creation, holding training sessions and technical support for colleagues. I have to combine my love for all things creative and experience in media, alongside my evolving understanding of tech and the finance industry to add a wealth of value to M&G plc as an Employee Technology Adoption apprentice.
Since starting my apprenticeship, face to face interactions have been limited given that we have been in national lock downs. In spite of this, I have been strongly supported in developing a vast variety of people skills and develop in the technical skills related to my role. The team have been excellent in fostering a learning and development mindset among apprentices.
My colleagues and support network here all greatly contribute to a highly enjoyable experience. I would recommend an apprenticeship at M&G plc for any school leaver who is considering a role in technology or the finance industry. Not only is it an excellent introduction to the working world, but the programme provides a fantastic insight into the industry you would like to work in.
The programme is highly structured. We have regular check-ups from the apprentice team to report how we are finding the programme and provide feedback. The apprentice community is also a great way to remain connected with other apprentices. We have events as a community and there is always something to look forward to.
I receive a tremendous amount of support from my employer. Not only do we have a manager and the HR team that support apprentices, but we also have allocated a personal mentor, which I have found extremely beneficial to integrating into the company.
BPP also have a mentor ship programme that works alongside the qualification. I have catch ups with my coach every 6 weeks which helps as I can bounce ideas for projects with her and also receive professional advice for how to be most effective in my apprenticeship. The seminars are also great, the coaches are always more than willing to listen to feedback and support in the most appropriate way possible.
The qualification perfectly coincides with the projects that I am assigned in my team. It has effectively prepared me to take a leadership role with certain projects with my team and taught me the basic principles of stakeholder management. These are things that I would not have known if not for the training I recieve.
Yes, there are several networks that I have had the pleasure of partaking in virtually. It is a lovely opportunity to meet colleagues and learn from other people's experiences. There are also company wide initiatives that generate community from a company wide lens. The opportunities are fantastic!
Yes
M&G is a longstanding and reputable company that focuses on giving a voice to new talent and encouraging them to take an active role in the business. I have a manager who also recently completed an apprenticeship. There is plenty of room for growth and development for people from diverse walks of life.
I would encourage them to consider what they can bring to the table, whether it is an analytical focus, or creativity, or past experience in volunteering. All of these are crucial in putting you ahead of the crowd. Any and all experience is useful in boosting your application.
