1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

I provision access to our virtual infrastructure for our contractors, arranging their physical access to our sites as well as virtual access via external accounts and applications. I manage the requests raised to change the infrastructure and make sure that all teams are aligned for this work to be completed successfully

2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have learnt a lot of skills regarding specific systems as well as developing skills previously acquired such as learning new programming languages or extending my knowledge of the Microsoft office suite applications both online such as power automate on on desktop apps. professional skills have also been learnt such as presentations etc.

4. How well organised/structured is your programme?

induction was brilliant, very interactive despite being held virtually. the ongoing training on offer is enough to be able to excel in any field of interest. support from both programme team and management of Vodafone is excellent and any queries are quickly answered. the team hierarchy works well in terms of escalation and getting resolutions, however, it is not intimidating

5. How much support do you receive from your employer?

6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

training provider is brill, always asking questions on progress with regular meetings. the tutors are very knowledgeable and always happy to offer help and answer questions. there is a friendly learning environment with engaging material. assignments are achievable with lots of interesting topics and reasonable timescales. they appreciate that we have full time jobs alongside the degree

7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

at the moment there is not a lot of overlap between uni and work, however a lot of the concepts are transferrable eg understanding of network addressing or how networks are being virtualized as well as all the jargon that comes along with working in a computer engineering based setting

8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

it is hard to comment on this as my employment has been entirely through the covid 19 pandemic so far, I have heard good reviews from previous employees and apprentices of the social side of Vodafone and see the friendly environment but personally it is hard to give valid judgement

Yes

9b. Why?

very friendly work environment where all members will help if you are stuck with anything, the work itself is interesting yet not overwhelming and they have a very good outlook for their employees such as prioritizing family allowing for flexible work days to suit around school collections. all in all good place to work

10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Vodafone?

the application is probably one of the most important steps, as long as your cv etc show you are a well rounded person, I believe you are half way there. the assessment centre is completed in a way where the activities are engaging rather than daunting, just make sure you understand the spirit of vodafone
