  • I am responsible for ensuring that valuations are appropriate for the portfolio management team whilst ensuring they are in line with internal pricing policies and financial regulations.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt and developed a wide range of new and existing skills. Time management and presenting skills are two skills that have developed strongly. However, all my professional skills have vastly improved from when I started.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I have thoroughly enjoyed the start of my professional career having many opportunities to develop new skills. I am regularly challenged in my work which is helping me to build knowledge and confidence as well as having a great network of support around me.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The whole program is very well structured. For example, we have regular up-skilling meetings to ensure we as apprentices are continuously developing our professional skills.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • One line of support is the leader of the apprenticeship team who is always encouraging us to reach out to her if we have any issues. Furthermore, my whole team is all very supportive and always happy to stop and explain things when I ask.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • BPP provide a coach who is there to help you should you need it completing any assignments. Generally email responses are very quick and informative, resolving issues swiftly.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • My qualification is building a wide range of professional skills and knowledge. While the courses content does not directly relate to the data I work with on a day-to-day basis, the content is useful in helping me to build a better understanding of the business' environment.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Yes, the best example is our connection to Investment2020. They provide us with training courses and webinars to attend to help build our knowledge around the finance sector.

  • 9a. Would you recommend M&G to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • M&G as a company has a strong focus on employee well-being which has made it incredibly easy to settle in, even working from home. Furthermore, the company actively encourages its employees to continue developing and gain further qualifications which is something I am keen to do beyond my apprenticeship


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to M&G?
  • When applying to M&G ensure you put across your ambitions for the future (higher level qualifications) and your desire to keep learning, as this is something the company is keen on. Furthermore, it is important to show that you are a team player.
