  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My daily role involves monitoring and analyzing our technical systems to ensure everything is running smoothly. I take responsibility in updating the month end pack, where I run audit controls, and other reports. Some of these and the pack are sent out to stakeholders in the business. Additionally, I am a part of two new exciting projects!

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • When I first entered this role I had no clue how to code or write in any syntax. Over time I have learnt how to use SQL and Linux. I can now write/amend queries to pull relevant data from the databases. I have developed my communication skills and confidence by speaking to various stakeholders. Furthermore, I have built upon my existing MS Excel skills with the help of my team members!

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • My job role is varied which I like! It tends to have its busier and quieter periods in the month which fits in perfectly with studying towards the professional qualification. My team is very friendly, approachable and helpful. Although, I started my role from home I've always felt like I can reach out for help whenever needed! I appreciate that the company culture focuses on employee wellbeing and I have thoroughly enjoyed my experience so far.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • As mentioned before having started WFH I was very afraid that I would feel isolated. But, the support I have received has been great. My team, study mentors and the graduate cohort are always happy to support me in my personal and professional development. The Programme is organized well. To date, I receive regular updates and attend weekly catch ups with HR and my graduate cohort intake.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I am working towards the CIMA professional qualification and level 7 apprenticeship alongside this. I am enrolled with a tuition provider for this (set up through Vodafone). I have felt fully supported in my studies whether it be asking my manager for study leave or my tutors for extra help.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • Over the short time that I have been working towards the CIMA professional qualification I have already come across many theories/concepts in the workplace. Moreover, for one of my projects I have even been able to apply some of my learnt knowledge and present this across to my team! I don't doubt that as I advance towards achieving the CIMA qualification I will improve in my current and future rotational roles.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are lots of extra-curricular activities to get involved in such as charity events, graduate committee events, networking events and more. For example, I partook in a grad-organized python coding club, not only to help me in my role, but for my own professional development too. There is definitely something for everyone to partake in!

  • 9a. Would you recommend Vodafone to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • I would recommend Vodafone because I have learnt so much here and there is so much opportunity to learn more! I love the company culture, I think the emphasis on work life balance and mental health is great. My team and my colleagues embed the Vodafone spirit and are passionate in what they do as well as being so helpful!

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Vodafone?
  • I would say to do your research at each stage of the recruitment process, starting with finding out about Vodafone, it's values, and why you want to work here. Ensure your CV/cover letter/application form (first entry for the role) encompasses you and all your skills well! Practice for the video and face to face interviews with friends/family. Don't forget that body language is important too! Prepare well, bring your best self forwards and you will do great!
