  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • During the work day I am expected to maintain and guide users on a central place (Azure DevOps) to store builds, test and manage cycles. Along with this I am in a software engineering team, where my role is to contribute to coding aspects and test certain environments. Another couple project which I take a primary lead in is in building websites for users across my network.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • In just a 6 month period, I have developed vast programming skills and learnt how to apply many principles in the working world. Along with programming, I believe I am a much more competent website builder due to my personal development on html and css. Other than these skills, I have carried on alot of soft skills as this is my first professional working job.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I very much look forward to each day in my role. I love the challenges brought up form this role and I thoroughly appreciate my team who keep me looped into projects. One certain aspect I like less is the apprenticeship side, which comparing to my university friends seems like a underwhelming programme.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I believe my programme is very well structured. An induction week was created to first help me settle in and various team leaders in the organization have introduced themselves to me, some of which I remain in constant contact and even work with on a day to day basis.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • My manager and mentor have been a fundamental reason for my quick development in the progamme. Everyone in my team is always happy to help and guide me through aspects if I raise any concerns.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • Although I believe the support from training provider is there with a skills coach and a great ACE team, whom I regularly ask for assessment assistance, I believe the course itself lacks depth and the assignments do not closely link to covered content.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I feel certain aspects have helped me gain a wider perspective of computer science but I believe maybe my role needs a slightly different course to fully benefit from the training provider.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Since joining Vodafone, I have been working from home so the opportunities are harder. I am part of a Future Talent Charity Committee since joining, and we have raised £2000 for the first couple months since starting up. This charity has helped me setup events with guest speakers and promote varying charities. Along with the charity commitments I have made speeches promoting my cultural background.

    9/10

  • 9a. Would you recommend Vodafone to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • From my experience, I have vastly improved myself since joining and I have really enjoyed putting my knowledge in practice as as posed to doing assignments in school in the past. I think everything, from the support from colleagues and the employee benefits really promote Vodafone well.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Vodafone?
  • Cannot remember too much about my process. But from what I can remember, prepare thoroughly for the video interviews. During the assessment centre stage, make sure to be confident and be yourself. Once onboarded be open to try everything as some things may have great consequences.
