  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • my role is to inspect parts before they go into service. My day to day duties include gaining hours and experience to count towards my qualifications and doing tasks set by my line manager.

  • Learnt how to operate the clean line and how to process parts through the fpi line, how to run checks on the fpi line, downloaded software that allows me to learn about UT methods.

  • I thoroughly enjoy my programme and the university study that comes with it.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • It is well organised, there have been challenges with structure due to the covid pandemic but the company has handled it well and I always have sufficient amounts of work to do.

  • lots, training, mental health line, catch ups and review meetings.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • most of the course is self learning but the support is there should I need it and there are lots of readily available resources to assist the self learning

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • you cannot carry out the full process or make any evaluations until you are level 3 qualified or have your work checked by a level 3 so the qualification will allow us to move into and fulfil our positions once we finish the apprenticeship.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • lots of social activities (not during covid times), regular BINDT meetings on zoom and lots of social events during study weeks.

  • Yes

  • A really supportive company with a wide variety of sectors to explore so you will always find something you enjoy.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Rolls-Royce?
  • Be proactive and adapt well to change, you must be flexible and have initiative so you can manage study and work as well as day to day life.
