  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • As a first year apprentice, I will complete training courses in different sectors which will build skills required to go out into the business. On a typical day I can expect to work towards my NVQ or Degree.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • As I only started in January, I have only took placement In Electronics. although this 3 week course taught me the basics on consumer unit circuits control panels and live testing.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I absolutely love being an apprentice at Rolls-Royce.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme is very well organised with a formal timetabled structure.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I have numerous points of contact that I am able to use if I need anything.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • A lot, derby collages instructors primarily teach us our training courses and we can receive as much support as needed.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • My Mechanical Engineering Degree and NVQ will directly relate to my job role.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • With COVID, not particularly although after the virus has passed there is lots of opportunities.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Rolls-Royce to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • They give us an amazing opportunity to work hands on with skilled engineers, gain worth qualifications and also earn a salary on top of all this.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Rolls-Royce?
  • Be yourself, Apply and be confident. DO plenty of research into the company and its history as this is a key focus during the assessment centre :)
