  • Working 3 days a week as an engineer within the company and 2 days a week studying and having lecturers to work on the degree side of things.

  • Massively increased my engineering knowledge and skills such as CAD, CFD, programming and general design and manufacturing techniques.

  • Can be very tough and demanding at times, but so rewarding and useful for my professional development.

  • The work side of things is great, university side of things can be slightly disorganised at times.

  • So much! Massive well-being, academic and workplace support which is constantly advertised and encouraged.

  • I feel like I can go to anyone within the company and they'll be more than happy to help.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I learn more and more everyday which I then apply in the workplace. I also shape my projects around what I've learnt and what I want to do more of.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Before COVID, there was always sport on in the gym (football, basketball, badminton etc.) and more and more clubs were being set up like gardening and surf club.

  • Yes

  • Very enjoyable and really gets you ahead of everyone else in terms of professional development.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Dyson Institute of Engineering and Technology?
  • Understand that it is going to be tough at times and make sure that engineering is something that you are passionate about. Make the most of every opportunity you're given and ask loads of questions!
