  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role involves producing large amounts of resources for other staff, as well as providing administrative support to the PE department.

    5/10

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have taught myself a lot about excel through using the program, as well as various other applications the school uses for finance, ordering, communication, IT, etc. I have learned practical reprographics skills through experience.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy my work, and the learning I have done with LSP. I have been disappointed by a lack of employer training and general input on my development.

    5/10

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The LSP program started off a bit poorly as it took a long time to hear from, then to meet, my tutor. Since then the training has been very organised and easy to understand.

    7/10

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Very little. The staff at my workplace are friendly and supportive for the most part, but my managers are mostly absent and have not considered my training whatsoever.

    2/10

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • None. They have not made any attempt to understand what I'm working on and have fobbed me off when I ask for help. I have done all of my coursework alone as I have no mentor or anyone assigned to help.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • The qualification has been helpful in giving me a greater understanding of the scope and effect of my administrative role. It has also helped me reflect on and reinforce what I have learned through experience.

    8/10

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are no 'official' extra curricular activities aside from the Christmas party, but there are independent groups of employees who do activities together. I would have liked to have joined the hiking group but unfortunately this has not yet been possible with the lockdown.

    4/10

  • 9a. Would you recommend SMRT to a friend?
  • No

  • 9b. Why?
  • The management and most teaching staff give little consideration towards support staff.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to SMRT?
  • Don't unless they're going to pay you well.
