  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt many new skills particularly during the course. Biggest development has been in analysis of data and using multiple different tools. The work based projects were most challenging and therefore I believe helped me develop my skills most significantly being able to apply what I had learnt in previous years to my role and work based projects. I have also developed less technical skills such as personal skills such as organisation and time management programs to meet deadlines.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • Enjoyed the challenge the course gave me. I Found It very difficult and at times I felt very stressed and did not feel like I was enjoying it due to work levels however now being complete and looking back I can see past the stress a little and appreciate I did enjoy the course and I have certainly enjoyed what I have learnt and the overall experience it has given me and opportunities it has provided for the future.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • In earlier years I believe there were a few less organised aspects of the course. Some challenges particularly faced in my second year I believe it was the first year of my pathway being available and the course and tutors were not very well organised however the issues were dealt with appropriately and to the expected level and on the whole and for the remainder of the course it was very well organised. Lots of support in place.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • My employer was supportive of the course and ensure I was able to attend university on all the Required days in order to be able to carry out the required work. Although in the end I was able to achieve what required and towards the end of the course to required time was provided my employer was less supportive of the work based projects and I believe further support in arranging them could have been provided.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I received all the support I could have hoped for from my training provider above and beyond what I would expect. Both the tutors and all other academic staff supported me in every aspect possible and at no point did i feel unsupported by the university. There were multiple channels available for support with tutors and online resources, onsite resources all apprenticeship staff were willing to answer any Questions and provide support when issues occurred.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • Developing so many skills its not even possible to list them all here meant that I was able to Perform to a higher level in my role and develop to obtain further responsibilities. This has enabled me to not only develop technical skills within the course but also further technical skills within my role and Being given additional responsibilities has increased my confidence and allowed me to consider further job role options for my future.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • I believe there are multiple events available however I have not personally got involved in any of them. Over the years there have Been things such as weight loss or book clubs. There have also been multiple sporting events such as football and netball and charity runs and walks. There are also additional things available such as charity events such as fireworks and family days. There Are also some sales available onsite from individual businesses.

  • 9a. Would you recommend HCL Technologies to a friend?
  • No

  • 9b. Why?
  • Additional support should have been provided around the projects which have a significant contribution towards the overall degree grades and therefore classification. This was the main failing of the company and although really only one fault it was a significant one that had a significant impact to my personal experience. There was improvements towards the end however this was too late for me to suggest recommending this company for this specific degree to a friend.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to HCL Technologies?
  • Ensure support and ideas are in place for projects before progressing any further. Ensure the line manager and team are fully supportive of the degree and you are in a role that will allow you to fit it around the degree without having to make any compromises and that allows for projects relevant to the pathway you choose. Projects have to be related to your pathway therefore your role must be able to accommodate for these.
