  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • As an apprentice the role never really stays the same, as you do different types of placements that involve different opportunities and experiences throughout the workplace so that you get to experience the job as a whole and find out where and what you like doing the most. Each day is different and comes with new challenges that you have to overcome, however help is always available if you come in and not sure what to do!

  • As a degree apprentice, we visit Sheffield university once every week which is teaching us the background information that we will need within the business and along side that we are completing level 3&4 qualifications which is mostly hands on experience with different types of machines and process's that we will need after finishing the apprenticeship. There is also additional training courses that we can attend which helps with safeguarding and even personal finance problems.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I really enjoy the program that i'm doing as it gives a broad overview of all of the skills that are required for the end role, it also gives us a degree to have at the end of the apprenticeship. Its helped build new friendships and overall to work better as a team, working in these teams make it more enjoyable than any other day to day job as your always meeting different people with different skills who you can ask for help in the future if needed

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Each placement is structured so that you are inducted to the section your working in, meaning that you meet the whole team and area your going to be working with. your also set objectives for the placement so you know what you need to do throughout, having these set objectives allows you to gather evidence for the NVQ. The university side is also structured to fit into your weekly routine by having 1/5 working days to visit the university
