  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role is to care and support the learning and development of young children in the early years. I have an important role to work alongside and in partnership with parents and carers to support the transition Of their children from pre-school to primary school. I follow the early years framework and guidelines to ensure all our children are given the best possible start in life and nurture that they so importantly need. I absolutely love doing my role.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Absolutely yes, all my knowledge and experience has been gained through working both at the nursery, using online courses and the support of my tutor and the work I completed. I started my apprentice with no knowledge of working in a nursery. I was supported in all aspects of training and learning. My tutor provided lots of information and guided me to the relevant areas in order for me to up-skill at the pace I wanted to.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I really enjoyed the programme because my tutor was so supportive and extremely friendly. I knew I could contact her at any time on any day and she would help. [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the RateMyApprenticeship Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions] made me feel so at ease and she was approachable throughout. I often completed my work and wanted more to get the course completed and Corinne was right by my side feeding my appetite. I couldn’t have asked for a better supportive tutor. Thank-you [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the RateMyApprenticeship Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions]

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The program was easy to follow and easy to understand through email. What was expected was very clear and as always if I was unsure or needed some clarification on anything, my tutor would be right there answering any questions or helping me. I enjoyed the programme and especially working in the nursery completing it, I could see my learnings in action and put my skills into practice. Again, [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the RateMyApprenticeship Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions] was supportive and always motivating.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I had all the support I needed, my employer was very flexible and supported the essential sessions and time with my tutor. My employer also allowed time for exams that I needed to complete through the course (maths, English and ICT). I did have to start again after 5 months in due to a change in apprenticeship tutors but It was unavoidable due to the company stopping the service. It was a good thing in the end because I met the fabulous [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the RateMyApprenticeship Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions]

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I had all the support I needed as I have said [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the RateMyApprenticeship Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions] would always be at the end of an email, the phone or if needed she would book in additional sessions to come into the nursery to support. [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the RateMyApprenticeship Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions] also provided lots of revision material and links for my functional skills tests. Information and support that I found absolutely necessary to pass the tests. I can’t fault my tutor and her support, she is just excellent.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • It helps so much as I have learnt so much throughout. I think the learning is absolutely essential for me to be competent in the role I’m needed to do. It gives me that vital knowledge and understanding of the way children learn and develop with myself being a key role in doing just that. [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the RateMyApprenticeship Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions] inspired me to further my education because she was so good and I start university in October this year doing a combined degree in Early childhood, health and well-being.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are outside training events that we go on and I know some of the team will occasionally go out together for a social purpose. We have out of hours staff meetings. We have a Christmas party each year where awards are given out and this is a night where staff are recognised for their hard work and commitment to their job role. All the nurseries get together to enjoy food and socialising all together.

  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • Again I feel that my tutor has given me all the support in the world and I learnt so much within the time I spent with [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the RateMyApprenticeship Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions] as my tutor. The knowledge I have gained has made me so much more confident in my job role. I have a better understanding of the children, my role and the impact I can have on the children while they spend their time with us at the nursery.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Ashworth View Nursery?
  • I would advise anyone to go for it!!! As long as you have the motivation and drive to succeed you will do just that. My experience is that as long as you put in 100% and positively move forward using the support and guidance from your tutor and the people around you, you will be absolutely fine. I enjoyed doing this apprenticeship.
