My role involves running a production line which includes tasks such as quality checks, material management and fixing faults with the machinery.
Some of the subjects at collage I had already studied at a higher level but I have gained lots of knowledge in practical engineering work.
The program has been much better than I initially expected, Unilever is a great company to work for and really supports my development.
The weeks are all structured the same with 2 days of collage and 3 days at work. At work we are given a list of all of the things that we need training on so that we can keep track of our progress and prepare for the end point assessment
Unilever provides everything that I need and more. If I need to spend time working on collage assignments then I am allowed to do so at work and they even provide an area for me to do it.
The collage's students do pass their assignments however I feel as thought the method of teaching the content makes it quite easy to forget most of it a few weeks later.
Currently I have used very little of what I have learnt at collage in my role at Unilever. however I am still only in my first year and I do feel that the content that I am learning is important.
I do not regularly attend any activities outside of work with my colleagues. I do however volunteer for the RSPCA and this is something that Unilever supports through the Unilever volunteer scheme. I also went on a teambuilding course at the beginning of my apprenticeship.
Yes
Because I have found it to be a very good company to work for no matter how high up you are. Everyone at my site seems very satisfied with their job and have no complaints.
If you fail to get a place the first time you apply then don't let it stop you from reapplying next year because Unilever is a company that everyone should want to work for.
