  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I work within NRM which is Net Revenue Management. Its all about analysing data coming to decisions in regards to marketing actions and brand decisions. I help form the presentations for these bootcamps we run for brands. Ensuring all the correct data analysis has been completed. I manage our internal communications platform. • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have developed so many new skills since working at Unilever. One of the main skills is definitely presenting as I have had to present to groups in my role. This has massively improved my confidence also. My organisational skills have developed as I now organise other people as well as myself as I help my manager with her organisation. I have to meet sharp deadlines that I haven't had to do before. So organisation and prioritisation of tasks is key.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I thoroughly enjoy my programme and the work that I am doing. It has taught me so much that I can take further into different roles. I have met people along the way that have passed on their knowledge to me. There are some aspects I find challenging but there is always someone to help and assist me in these circumstances.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Felt was a little bit of a slow start and there has been a few obvious complications due to the Corona Virus which I felt could've been communicated to us a little better and smoother but I understand the difficulty with that during this uncertain time. Overall the programme has been really good. Our mentor was always there when we needed help and always gave great help to us for assignments

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I have catch-ups with Manpower our employer checking we are getting on okay with our coursework and assignments as well as our job roles. Always checking our wellbeing Is okay and we are on track, including we are getting the correct amount of study time etc. My manager is one of the directors of Unilever for UK&I so she is extremely busy but she still makes time and we have regular catch-ups to check I am doing okay and on the right track, taking this opportunity to run through any bits I need to.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I have both remote visits (Phone calls) and office visits from my Mentor to discuss my current coursework status and where I am up to, go over new tasks and what needs to be involved/included and other important information that I need to know checking I am doing okay. This is also an opportunity for me to get any questions answered that I need to. I can easily contact via email anything I have outside of these.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • It helps me to pick up new communication skills and as I am within the leadership team area and communicate with a lot of senior stakeholders, I need to know how to adjust myself to be able to communicate at a professional level. adapting myself to different audiences, whether these are internal or external also.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • We have team socials and I socialise with the other apprentices sometimes outside of work also as we have all become friends. There are unilever football, netball and other sports teams available that we can join if we wanted to. I personally have not joined any of these but have heard they are great fun.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Unilever to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • It has taught me so much and more than I thought it would in terms of skills that I can take with me anywhere now to a new role. I have met so many people and learned so much from them. They treat their employees with such great care at all times and such a lovely environement and team to be a part of.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Unilever?
  • Just go for it! Do your research beforehand and make sure you know everything there is to know about the company. Their goals and objectives and what they want to achieve. Put yourself out there and don't be shy and talk to anyone and everyone that you can to help build your network also.
