My role involves working in an Agile team with senior developers and project members in order to deliver a live client project. I am tasked with carrying out the software testing on the project and it requires a lot of interaction with team members.
I've learned a number of new skills since starting the apprenticeship that include C#, Java, SQL, and working with different software testing technologies like Selenium and Specflow. I am also given the opportunity to study towards professional certifications which is great for career development
Really enjoying the programme at the moment as it gives me an opportunity to take what I am learning in college and apply it to a real life environment whilst given the chance to interact with other team members.
My programme is pretty well structured, I would work in the office (or from home) every day apart from a Wednesday when I would have day release for college. Also given a lot of support to develop career through one to ones with performance managers for goal setting
Manager provides a great amount of support to get stuck into project work and develop my knowledge which is great as it will aid me in my career. Also have a lot of support available through Junior Talent academy in the form of conferences and webinars
Tutors generally make themselves available for us to contact outside of class times which is great if we need a question answered about course work or general career advice.
I feel that without the education provided by my training provider, the quality of the tasks I carry out on a day to day basis would be a lot less. The knowledge provided has been invaluable to me as it is practical and not merely theory based.
There are a lot of charity fundraising events that are ran and the Junior talent academy would periodically run events such as conferences in which apprentice and graduates from the same cohort would meet to learn together and network. Usually located in London.
