Preparing CAD drawings. Assisting with basic engineering tasks. 3D CAD modelling. Document control and implementing Q&A procedures.
Yes. I joined straight from school secondary school with no experience.
I enjoy my apprenticeship as it has helped me to start my career in engineering early on, and I have been supported by my company to develop my skills and knowledge.
My university course is generally well organised but sometimes there is a lack of communication between lecturers and students.
My employer has been supportive throughout my course. I have mentors and have also been encouraged to work towards EngTech and IEng membership with the ICE.
In general they have been very supportive.
Much of what I learn is not useful in my day to day work, and likely never will be. However, it has helped me to understand basic engineering principles and develop critical thinking.
