  • Preparing CAD drawings. Assisting with basic engineering tasks. 3D CAD modelling. Document control and implementing Q&A procedures.

  • Yes. I joined straight from school secondary school with no experience.

  • I enjoy my apprenticeship as it has helped me to start my career in engineering early on, and I have been supported by my company to develop my skills and knowledge.

  • My university course is generally well organised but sometimes there is a lack of communication between lecturers and students.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • My employer has been supportive throughout my course. I have mentors and have also been encouraged to work towards EngTech and IEng membership with the ICE.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • In general they have been very supportive.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • Much of what I learn is not useful in my day to day work, and likely never will be. However, it has helped me to understand basic engineering principles and develop critical thinking.

  • Yes
